People who create change
With over 20 years’ experience across the NHS and independent practice, Dr Bailie and colleagues bring psychological expertise to the Family Courts and to families and professionals navigating some of life’s most difficult moments.
Dr Richard Bailie and colleagues are all HCPC registered psychologists. They specialise in using psychological approaches to improve the wellbeing of children, parents, and professionals working with families.
Creating opportunities for change
Dr Bailie specialises in the clinical and forensic assessment and treatment of children and their families. He focusses on enabling and sustaining change through psychological assessment and treatment, and for colleagues, through training, mentorship and supervision.
With families: Dr Bailie assesses families for the Family Courts, looking at wellbeing and capacity to change, and works in partnership with the family throughout. He also provides psychological therapy.
With professionals: Dr Bailie is passionate about supporting psychology and social care colleagues to make use of psychological ideas to improve their thinking, wellbeing, relationships and practice. He offers training and consultation to professionals on the assessment of families and their capacity to change.
Dr Bailie worked within the NHS for over 20 years, in CAMHS, adult mental health, and secure forensic settings, assessing and treating mental health, forensic (offending behaviour), and social care concerns.
In recent years, Dr Bailie worked for Sussex Partnership NHS Trust, leading a clinical psychology service for East Sussex Youth Offending Services, and providing clinical supervision and professional leadership for East Sussex SWIFT child psychological services (assessment and treatment of young people known to children’s services). Dr Bailie now focusses on his independent practice.
Dr Bailie lives on the south coast, and enjoys time with his family and any activity involving the beach, the water, or a racquet.
