Dr Richard Bailie and colleagues specialise in using psychological approaches to improve the wellbeing of children, parents, and professionals working with families.

Creating opportunities for change. 

Dr Bailie focusses on enabling and sustaining change through psychological assessment, and treatment, and for colleagues, through training, mentorship and supervision.

With families: He offers assessments for the Family Courts on a family’s wellbeing and capacity to change. He works in partnership with the family. He also provides psychological therapy.

With professionals: Dr Bailie is passionate about supporting psychology and social care colleagues to make use of psychological ideas to improve their thinking, wellbeing, relationships and practice. Dr Bailie offers training and consultation to professionals on the assessment of families and their capacity to change. Find out more under the Training section.

Dr Bailie specialises in the clinical and forensic assessment and treatment of children and their families. 

Dr Bailie worked within the NHS for over 22 years. He worked in CAMHS, adult mental health and secure forensic settings. This work included the assessment and treatment of mental health, forensic (offending behaviour) and social care concerns. 

In recent years, Dr Bailie worked for Sussex Partnership NHS Trust, and led a clinical psychology service for East Sussex Youth Offending Services while providing clinical supervision and professional leadership for East Sussex SWIFT child psychological services (assessments and treatment of young people known to children’s services). Dr Bailie now focusses on his independent practice.

Dr Bailie lives on the south coast, and enjoys time with his family and any activity involving the beach, the water or a racquet.
